ESOL After-School Program

In Reading/Writing we are focusing on the Text-Dependent Analysis that students are working on in class. The goal is to become better writers about reading. Students will be practicing reading strategies such as main idea, theme, inferencing, summarizing, and citing text evidence to explain their thinking.

In Math, we are working on spiral problem solving activities that involve real-world scenarios. For example, we are currently using math to figure out how much a Thanksgiving meal might cost, and how long it will take to prepare the meal. We will also work on a Holiday themed math project called "To Grandmother's House We Go!" where students will go on a mathematical journey to grandma's house. Focus skills include: Operations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division), Perimeter & Area, Money, Problem Solving, and Multi-Step Problems.
